FAQs

Does Mount Vernon Preschool accept children with special needs?

It depends on the type of special need. We are not equipped to take care of any medical special needs, however developmental special needs can be evaluated on a case by case basis.

In the event that a child with special needs requires a one on one assistant in order to participate in classroom activities, the parents are responsible for providing a trained assistant.

Mount Vernon Preschool reserves the right to dismiss a child with special needs if we are unable to accommodate those special needs while maintaining the program goals and safety for the other children in the class.

Does Mount Vernon Preschool take field trips?

No. For liability reasons, we do not transport children. We do bring in a variety of outside groups and activities in lieu of field trips.

What is an Enrollment Contract and tuition deposit?

An enrollment contract and tuition deposit insures that parents are serious about enrolling their child and understand all that is expected from them. An enrollment contract is also a legal document that allows the school to hold a family accountable to paying the annual tuition in the event of an early withdrawal in which the school is unable to release the family from the contract.

Will I receive a refund of my tuition deposit at the end of the school year?

The tuition deposit is collected along with the enrollment contract as final confirmation that the child will be attending Mount Vernon Preschool. The tuition deposit is applied toward the annual tuition for students who complete the full year. In the event that the child withdraws any time after the tuition deposit is paid and prior to the end of the school year, the tuition deposit in non-refundable.

Do you provide meals and snacks?

No. Children who attend our regular 8 a.m.-12 p.m. program should have been fed breakfast prior to arriving at school. Parents are required to provide a light, healthy, peanut/tree nut free snack for their child.

Parents of children who attend Lunch Bunch and Enrichment Classes must provide a healthy, peanut/tree nut free lunch.

Will the teachers feed my child?

No. Children should be able to feed themselves prior to enrolling in Mount Vernon Preschool.

Children in our 3 year old class are expected to be in the process of being completely potty trained.
